What is a IPL photofacial?
An IPL photofacial is a treatment that uses high-intensity pulses of visible light to improve such skin conditions , such as fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, freckles, melasma, rosacea, port wine stain, and facial veins.
What to expect while I am being treated?
Gel is applied to the treatment area. Goggles or protective lense glasses are worn during the treatmant. The appropriate settings are then chosen according to the treatment and the clients skin type. The treatment head is then placed on the treatment area and delivers precise pulses of light to the skin. The treatment generally lasts about 20 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on the treatment area size.
What happens during the treatment?
IPL targets cells with color in the skin, (usually red and brown), delivering light energy that converts to heat energy. For example, the device might target the melanin in the skin’s surface to remove the discoloration that causes age spots. Most systems use filters to refine the light-energy output for certain areas. The treatment targets the lower layers of skin without affecting the top layers.
Is there any downtime?
You may feel a slight sun-burn feeling depending on the depth of lesion reached but there is usually minimal downtime. Clients can have the procedure done on their lunch break and return to work afterward. You will see redness for a few hours.
Risks and side affects: Overall, IPL photofacial side effects can include redness, peeling, swelling, and in rare cases blistering, scarring, and skin discolorations.
How many treatments do I need to see results?
Clients should see an improvement after two treatments, but 4–6 sessions will bring about optimal results.

Many women will shave their armpits and bikini areas hundreds — maybe even thousands — of times during their lifetime. The idea of abandoning this tedious task may seem appealing, and you may wonder if laser hair removal is a good alternative. But as sensitive as your underarms and genital areas are, is laser hair removal safe?
Although laser hair removal may sound harsh, it’s actually safe for your underarms and bikini areas. In fact, it’s relatively gentle on your skin, and there’s little pain during the procedure or afterward. Because these areas are small, the treatments often take less than 15 minutes for both — this is why some people suggest trying laser hair removal on the smaller areas before larger areas of your skin .
The laser targets hair in the follicle to prevent future growth from that follicle. However, laser hair removal can affect only hair that’s in the growth phase, so touch-up treatments are necessary to remove all hair in the targeted area
Dark hair is most receptive to laser hair removal because the laser is attracted to melanin. Laser hair removal may not be as effective on red, blond and gray hair

Ingrown hairs in people of color are particularly frustrating, as they often cause inflammation and excess pigmentation. This is not appealing cosmetically, especially if it occurs on the face. I find laser hair removal to help with pigment issue as well. Sometimes bleaching solutions and exfoliators are necessary adjuncts to laser hair removal, used under professional guidance, of course!
